General Policies:

Allergies:

If your child has, or develops allergies, (e.g. To food, environment, medications, etc.) please notify the staff immediately.

All allergies must be listed in the child's file and posted in the center.

Arriving and Departing From School:

It is our intention to give students a good sense of punctuality.

The morning preschool session starts promptly at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 12:00 noon.

The Full Daycare session is open from 8:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m.

Late arrivals miss out on the excitement generated by the introduction of new topics and materials by the teacher. Children not picked up on time may feel a sense of abandonment. Please ensure that your child arrives on time and that you arrive on time to take them home. Families enrolled in Preschool must pick up their children no later than 12:00 noon, We strive to give students a good sense of punctuality. The preschool session starts promptly at 9:00 a.m. and ends at and Full Daycare families no later than 5:00pm, or a late fee of $1.00 per minute will be applied.

The classroom is designed to be the child’s environment in which they can develop and grow in their unique way. We ask that all parents and adults respect this space and depart from or meet their children only at the building door. Please note we will not allow children to wait in the entry for their parent or guardian. You must be present at the building door or your child will not be allowed to leave the classroom.

Attendance:

If your child is unable to attend class or will be late for any reasonable reason, you are asked to advise us. The telephone number is 758-8979. If class is underway you can leave a message on the answering machine. Please do this, as we check for messages routinely.

Biting:

All biting is a serious issue, which requires attention as per licensing and Ministry of Health requirements. All bites are recorded and any bite that breaks the skin requires the filing of a critical incident report and the immediate contact of both parties. If a child bites more than once in the school a meeting will be necessary to create a workable and supportive action plan.

Birthdays:

If you would like your child to celebrate his or her birthday in the classroom please let us know well in advance. Please do not hand out invitations to parties at the school - even in the entry or parking area. Your child may enjoy mailing them or calling their friends and this will help to avoid any hurt feelings - this can be a wonderful time to discuss discretion. Please send a photo of each year of your child's life in order for us to celebrate them in the classroom, also it can be a great time for your child to bring a special snack to share with their friends if you would like.

Change in Information:

Should your telephone number, address at home or your place of business, or family dynamics change, please notify the school immediately. Emergency contact, Medical and Release information must be kept up to date for the safety of your child.

Conferences:

Parents are encouraged to share the growth they see in their child or discuss any concerns they may have by making an appointment with the Directress during after school hours when they will be able to give you their full attention. Observations are by appointment only, those wishing to observe their child during class time can contact the directress to make arrangements. We will have several times throughout the year when we will request that you arrange for an observation to share in the development of you child in the classroom.

For the sake of our children, in every case, let us find fair, reasonable, and simple solutions working cooperatively together in whatever unforeseen circumstances we may find ourselves.

Dismissal Policy:

It is our sincere hope that we will never need to dismiss a student from our program. All efforts will be taken to avoid this. We will use family involvement and communication, community support when appropriate, and all other means available to assist the child in succeeding. As a last resort, if it is apparent to the staff that we cannot meet the need of the child while continuing to meet the needs of the classroom as a whole, we would sadly need to dismiss the student. All unused portions of tuition would be pro rated and refunded.

Emergency Procedures:

The center will practice routine fire and emergency drills. Our Emergency plan is posted in the center. Also, the center will be inspected regularly by the Licensing Board and their report will be posted if you wish to review it.
